Lutronic Has Partnered with Dr. Rox Anderson to Support the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center, Renowned for Improving the Lives of Children in Vietnam

Lutronic reported today that it has made another donation of a high energy pulsed diode laser system, ADVANTAGE™, to the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center (VAC) to care for underserved children, following last year’s donation of its dual-pulsed Q-switched Nd:YAG SPECTRA™ laser.

Lutronic Corporation, a leading innovator in advanced aesthetic and medical laser technology around the world, reported today that it has donated its high power diode laser, ADVANTAGE™ to the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center (VAC) to provide medical care for children with vascular anomalies, disfiguring cutaneous lesions and other dermatologic conditions, which is the 2nd donation following last year‘s donation of Lutronic’s dual-pulsed Q-switched Nd:YAG SPECTRA™ laser.

The VAC at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh City Hospital in Vietnam is in partnership with Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beckman Laser Institute, and Texas Children's Hospital to treat children with disfiguring pigmented and vascular lesions, burn scars, radiation-related damage and other skin abnormalities.

This special request was made by Dr. Rox Anderson, Professor and Dermatologist at Harvard Medical School, a world renowned leader of laser technology for more than two decades, who was looking for the best device to treat venous malformations.

Dr. Rox Anderson is treating the patients with SPECTRA and ADVANTAGE.

“It is well known that this high-power diode laser delivered through a cold sapphire window provides excellent results for hair removal. But in the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center it will be used mainly for children with large venous malformations. These are life-altering lesions that are often difficult to treat with conventional surgery or sclerotherapy. The ADVANTAGE’s combination of high power (2800 W), deeply penetrating wavelength (805 nm) absorbed by venous blood, pulse duration and tissue cooling allow us to provide an effective non-invasive treatment.” said Dr. Anderson.

“We have been using the SPECTRA Q-switched Nd:YAG laser to treat a variety of conditions, including disfiguring pigmented lesions and traumatic tattoos,” he added.

Dr. B.L. Goo, Lutronic's Medical Director, has also joined this program to train and assist local physicians on the latest techniques using these lasers.

“A team of dedicated physicians from the U.S and other countries in Ho Chi Minh City treated more than 60 patients a day during this program and it is my great honor to reach out to bring renewed hope to the children” said Dr Goo.
